Take the Limits Off with Faith

Everyone goes through difficult situations in their life both great and small. Some people battle chronic physical diseases like asthma and some battle mental illnesses or from injuries that never healed right. There are people who have financial problems and those who have emotional problems. People also suffer from a combination of these problems or other problems like relationship issues or other health issues. Whatever the problem is, if it exists for a period of time longer than they thought they would be suffering through it, then the person suffering the illness or financial issues or relationship problems, or whatever the problems or unpleasant circumstances are tend to start believing that they may never get well or things will never get better for them. They start telling themselves and everyone who will listen that they will never get well, or they will never be happy, or they will never be okay, or some other form of negativity. The sad truth is, if they truly believe it and start talking about how things are going to be in a negative way, then they are right and things will never get better. They are self-prophesying their lives.

People who live like this are cheating themselves out of an amazing life they could be living. They are also limiting God and his mighty power. Do you suffer from mental illness? Don’t let it dictate your life and don’t hide behind it an excuse for bad behavior, especially when you are aware your behavior and attitude are wrong because if you know it is wrong then you do have the power to change your attitude and your behavior. Anything you are consciously aware of doing, you have control over. And letting the disease dictate your life and going around with a “woe is me” defeated attitude is only going to make you miserable.  In the book of Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, each author of these books gives accounts of Jesus healing those who are physically ill, demon-possessed, mentally ill, had leprosy, and many other diseases as well as the deaf, mute, and blind. Jesus still has the healing power and authority today as he sits in the place of honor at his Father’s right side in heaven. If you believe in your heart and mind, and do not doubt at all, then nothing is impossible. If you are suffering from mental illness, offer a prayer in faith (with absolutely no doubt in your heart or mind) that Jesus heal you and you will be healed if it is God’s will. If God has a purpose for your illness then ask him what that purpose is and ask him to show you what to do and how to live. Do you suffer from chronic pain or any chronic physical diseases such as asthma or heart disease? Pray to God about it. Are you having financial troubles or problems with relationships (or in one particular relationship)? Give it all to God. No matter what your problems are, remember that we serve a mighty God and he is the Healer, Redeemer, Jehovah, and Helper. He is our Heavenly Father. God promises not to let anything happen to us that cannot be used as part of his purpose for our lives. God has an amazing plan for everyone. If he brought you to the trials and tribulations, he will bring you through them better off than before. He would not allow your mental sickness, physical sickness, relationship problems, financial issues or whatever you are going through to happen to you if he did not have a grand purpose for them. Maybe you are meant to help someone else who is suffering (or will be somewhere later on in life) from your disease, relationship problems, financial troubles or similar situations to yours and will someday need your help.

There are a number of reasons why you could be suffering whether it be from a sin you committed, you are being tested in your faith for a chance at spiritual growth, or what you are going through will be something you will need to help someone else with later on. Whatever the reason, when your problems have served their purpose then God will bring you out of the situation and turn it around in your favor. You will get well! You will receive that creative idea or that job promotion, or be given that job you have been trying to get (if you are currently jobless), and you will miraculously work out your marital or other relationship issues. Whatever you are going through right now will seem like a distant memory. The key to seeing this happy day arrive in your life is to have faith in God and believe wholeheartedly that he can and will turn your situation around in your favor. You have to keep a positive attitude and think positively. You must also show love and kindness to others no matter how badly you are feeling. Never lose hope and hold on to your joy and peace.

These things are not easy to do in difficult times, but they are necessary.  Philippians 4:4 says, “Always be joyful in the Lord. I say it again – rejoice!” This is not the only place in the Bible where it tells us to always be full of joy and I encourage you to find other scriptures that tell you to do so. I would look in Psalms and the book of John 16 (the fourth and final book of the Gospels) to start off with. 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you,” and in Isaiah 26:3, the Prophet Isaiah tells us, “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”  Jesus promises in John 14:27, “I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a peace the world cannot give so don’t be troubled or afraid.” You can find these promises and many more in God’s word and he is faithful to honor all of his promises when we believe he will. Again, the key is faith, which is “the confidence that we hope for will actually happen, and gives us assurance of things we cannot see.” (Hebrews 11:1). Hebrews 11:6 states, “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”  This is not just a bunch of nonsense or a made-up story. God created the world in six days and took the seventh day off, which is why he said that on the seventh day we too are to rest for those of us who follow him. Jesus existed in the beginning and just over 2,000 years ago, he walked the earth in a human body and taught others how to live, healed many, and then died for our sins even though he himself was sinless. Three days later, he was raised from the dead and now he sits up in Heaven at God’s right-hand side, and he will be back to gather all children of God who live by faith and to please the Lord to give them eternal life and to judge everyone based on how they lived their lives. Either you believe all of this or none of it, there is no middle ground. If you believe all of it, then you can believe that the same Jesus Christ who healed the sick, cast out demons, healed the blind, deaf, and mute, raised the dead, and was himself raised from the dead has the same power today to help you overcome all of your problems and heal you completely.

Wake up every day believing for God to turn your situation around, living your life by faith and not in worry or fear, or in condemnation. The truth is, as soon as you have repented (confessed your sin to God and asked for forgiveness), he forgave you so there is no need to go around feeling guilty or condemned. Live a fruitful life (filled with hard work that helps others and is meaningful to the Lord and his people) and think, say, and do things pleasing to God that are in alignment with his word, his promises, and his purpose. The Holy Bible is full of advice on how to live your life, how to conduct yourself, and how to treat others. Jesus mentions the two most important commandments in the Gospels. The first is, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself,” in Matthew 22:37-38. In order to love others, you must love yourself. If you don’t love yourself then you will not be able to love others or to show God the love he deserves either. When you live a life filled with faith in God and love for him, yourself (a healthy love), and for others, then you are well on your way to living a good life. You are blessed if you know and feel God’s love and are able to love yourself and others. When you feel blessed, you cannot help but feel joy and peace as well. When you feel these positive emotions then you are thinking positive thoughts and saying positive things out loud about yourself, your life, and about others and their lives and all of this pleases God. When you take action steps to back up your faith, it pleases God even more.

When you believe God will heal you and your situation, the first step in faith to take is to declare that God will heal you and thank him for it as if he has already done it. Then make plans, as you would before you go on vacation, to prepare for the better life. For example, if you are in the process of losing weight, you would buy outfits at least a couple of sizes smaller in faith that you will fit into them in the future (and not too far into the future). It works the same with whatever you believe God will do for you. I am passionate about writing and just know part of God’s purpose for me is to write and to help and inspire others through my writing so even though I am currently not in newspapers, journals, magazines or books, I write almost daily and I recently started sharing my work on this site and on a couple of other blog sites too. This is my way of showing my faith in God that I will be published and successful in a writing career. Hopefully you get the point and can figure out something you can do to show your faith in God through action. If you are still unsure, which happens to me some days, then ask God what it is he wants you to do and then wait and listen for his answer. He may tell you through a thought, idea, impression in your heart, lyrics, license plates, dialogue from a movie or television show, snip-its of conversation or someone may give you advice you did not ask them for that is exactly the answer you were needing to hear from God. Keep your mind and heart open and God will find a way to communicate with you, and note that it could be through a specific verse or passage in the Bible that you are directed to read. There will be no sudden overnight changes in most situations, but if you keep a spirit and attitude of faith, show love for others, and work hard (doing the Lord’s work which is anything that helps others and is meaningful in some way- even if you are unsure in what way the work you do is meaningful just know if God directs you to it then you are not working in vain) and let your thoughts, words, and actions all align with God’s word and you will see your situation get turned around in your favor when God decides the time is right and you are ready to be pulled out of the pit and set down firmly on solid ground. We all have bad days or moments when we doubt, and that’s okay, but don’t linger in doubt or you will get stuck. Remember God’s faithful promises and his faithful and loving character and let faith conquer your fears, doubts, and anxieties and let God take care of you and your worries.

I have to add this to my day’s devotion. It’s so meaningful and to the point of what I am trying to get across to others. Thank you for sharing. Suffering can end for any issue, if we only believe.
